Mussels marinara (Mejillones a la marinera)

Description

    This recipe is much easier than it sounds. It can be used as a main dish served with pasta for the extra sauce or as a tapa by itself.

Ingredients

For 4 servings

  • 2 lb. mussels with shells
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup of sherry fino wine (Dry Sherry)
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • parsley

Directions - Mussels Marinara

  • To pan, add the 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Then, heat over a medium-high flame.
  • Chop the garlic cloves and put them into the hot oil. Once they are browned not too much add the tablespoon of flour and stir till slightly browned.
  • To the previous mixture add mussels with shells, the dry sherry wine (fino) and the paprika. Steam untill mussels open. In case the sauce becomes too thick, add some water, to one's taste.
  • Serve mussels marinara, pour the sauce and decorate with parsley.
